Denver Natural Stone: Which Material Is Right For Bathroom Countertops?

November 5, 2019

Kitchen style and design may be one of the best selling points of a property but bathrooms are used far more often. From being the haven where most people start their day to providing a relaxing atmosphere for a nice bubble bath after working hard, bathroom design and functionality should be given its proper consideration. This space not only serves a functional and necessary service, but depending on the overall floorplan of your home, these spaces may either be tied to master bedrooms, utilized as guest options, or serve as a stand alone area.

Deciding which material to select for your bathroom countertops shouldn’t be a difficult task. For many, the determination is ultimately a personal preference as there are varying levels of proficiency to different bathroom countertop materials. For natural stone, the surfaces offer many of the same benefits but depending on your individual style or color preference, one material may provide a better option than the others.

Quartz

Engineered quartz countertops have many positives with a single drawback of being prone to heat damage. Although extremely durable and available in a variety of different colors, there are heat components which have the potential to cause an issue in the bathroom. Curling irons, flat irons, and other items need to be handled with care to ensure the quartz isn’t subject to extreme heat for a considerable time period. In most instances, this is never an issue and shouldn’t sway you from the multiple color options and other benefits to selecting quartz.

Marble

Marble countertops can often provide a clean look that many people appreciate within a bathroom. Typically utilized to match light colors while benefiting from a durable and long-lasting product, marble has multiple benefits when put into use in the bathroom. Not only is this surface option extremely resilient but it also is seemingly stain resistant.

Granite

The use of granite countertops has expanded from the kitchen to the bathroom in recent years. These surfaces offer a variety of color options while providing a nice alternative to laminate for homeowners. As with any of the other considerations, materials can be matched to the kitchen countertop surfaces in order to create a sense of flow and connectivity throughout a home.
