Brighton, CO —Today, the 17^th Judicial District Attorney’s Office is announcing the filing of a First-Degree Murder charge against Omar Nieves, 28, related to a fatal shooting of a 24-year-old victim that occurred outside of a home along E. 118th Avenue in Commerce City on July 14, 2023. 

Nieves is charged with:  

• First-Degree Murder--After Deliberation (F1)

Case number 2023CR002145 was filed in Adams County District Court. Nieves' next court appearance is on July 25, 2023, at 8:30am in Courtroom E. 

The filing of a criminal charge is merely a formal accusation that an individual(s) committed a crime(s) under Colorado laws. A defendant is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty. See Colo RPC 3.6.
